Listen...

The world will forever be upside down and challenging...how else would we learn, understand, and grow. We must make the most of the world as it is through love, courage, and hope. It is in the silence afterwards, that helps us move beyond our physical and mental selves. It is at the mysterious quiet at the core of our spirit that triumphs in the soundless sound of the universal heartbeat resonating deep within each of us.

An Amazing Girl With A Fighting Spirit

A video that shows the journey this little girl has begun and little tokens of motivation to share with her during this very trying time.

Elizabeth...YOU are an amazing little girl with a such a powerful smile and a fighting spirit. YOU have so much LOVE all around YOU and always know that YOU are never alone. Your heart is strong and bright...it radiates everything around YOU.

YOU are an absolute inspiration to so many people. Never lose hope, embrace your strength, and let your light lead YOU to the place YOU are meant to be! STAY STRONG ELIZABETH AND FINISH YOUR FIGHT!

DEDICATE THIS DAY-EXTENDED VERSION

LIFE COMES FULL CIRCLE...
The adventure of life is to LEARN. The purpose of life is to GROW. The nature of life is to CHANGE. The challenge of life is to OVERCOME. The essence of life is to CARE. The opportunity of life is to LOVE. The secret of life is to DARE. The beauty of life is to GIVE.

OUR ACTIONS GIVE LIFE STRENGTH...

Each of us has a life filled with choices, and sometimes you can make a choice that can help someone you love or someone you don't even know. Each moment of your life is so special...and the people that are in those moments and in your life are there for a reason. A purpose is always fulfilled in each of those moments and will remain constant for life.
Giving to others/helping others gives us more than we give away. Everything you do matters. Every move you make, every action you take...MATTERS.
How far forward does someone need to go in your life to show the difference you make and the difference you could make? You, me, everyone have been created in order that we might make a difference...that we might fulfill our purpose. We have within us the power to change someone's life, to help someone in need, and to give our life meaning/purpose. Do you have the courage to experience life through the needs and eyes of another?

YOUR LIFE...AND WHAT YOU DO WITH IT TODAY...MATTERS FOREVER.
EVERYONE HAS THEIR SOMETHING...
When situations present themselves do we act on them or look the other way? Everyone has something to give, even if it is a small something...it is still something. I believe it is the small things that help build the bigger things. The bigger things would not be possible without the smaller things.
I believe deep down, everyone wants to feel they can give something that will help someone in need. It is amazing to see the process extend itself into a big chain reaction that has the power to bring so many people together to help make a difference.
DEDICATE THIS DAY:
I was reading one of my favorite books the other day and I came across a part in the book titled, "DEDICATE THIS DAY." The premise of it is that you dedicate a day to someone who is in need through expressions of love, kindess, and compassion. One of the greatest gifts you can give someone who is in need is kindness. True kindness lies within the act of giving without the expectation of something in return. Tokens of love provides clarity, the opening, and the grace for miracles to happen.
So I have decided to dedicate this day, August 24th to Elizabeth Yturralde-Cameron and her battle with cancer. Elizabeth is an amazing 13-year old girl with a such a powerful smile and such a fighting spirit. Her heart is strong and bright and it radiates everything around her. She is an absolute inspiration to so many people.
My birthday wish on this day is for people to please take the time to read Elizabeth Yturralde-Cameron's story. A brave 13-year old girl and her battle with cancer. Please share her story with others (it's amazing how far our vibrations can go and spread). But most importantly, realize that every day offers us countless opportunities to love and help someone in need.
ELIZABETH'S FIGHT...
Be there for Elizabeth by helping in her battle with cancer. Support and donate to her fight. Whatever amount you choose to donate big or small it all adds up in the end. Anything is better than nothing...and it truly is not about the amount it is about taking the time to see the reality a what a young girl is facing . By offering support, you will help her to feel and stay strong when she feels weak. You help remind her that her and her life do matter. You may help build up her strength and confidence during the lowest moments of her journey. By your support, you may restore her faith again if it has been lost for a moment. Your actions may help contribute to her finding an inner peace again. There is definitely an amazing process that unfolds, and if you pay attention you will begin to reveal the true meaning of life and what we should really be doing...and that is helping one another.
When life shows us a 13-year old girl with a fighting spirit facing one of the most challenging obstacle she has had to face so far, we must help in someway. We must truly understand the full message and believe anything and everything becomes possible. I love this quote: "Once a heart opens to the other side, it can never completely shut again."
BE A WELL OF STRENGTH, HOPE, AND LOVE for someone who is in the face of a serious illness. Acts of kindness makes wishes come true and miracles unfold. You may be given a gift to witness things go from an obstacle to a miracle and knowing somehow the miracle will show up on the other side of the obstacle. Help me fulfill my birthday prayers and wishes today. We must give Elizabeth's story a voice and wings to fly. Please spread this young girl's story with your friends and try offer support if you can.

DOFITNESS GIFT...
I am a big believer that tragedy and unfair situations do bring out the goodness in people. I believe that we live in this world to overcome our own struggles-to learn from them, to be more kind to others, to be more loving, and to offer our unique gifts at the RIGHT MOMENT IN TIME AND THE RIGHT WAY.  We all have the power to make a difference, the opportunity to help someone heal and win, and to help bring hope back that will end up helping 15 children by helping and starting with one.
With all that being said and on behalf of Dofitness Studio, I want to challenge people to step it up. Don't think...JUST DO! So for every amount donated to Elizabeth's fight, Dofitness will match that amount and offer free personal training sessions, an awesome ab challenge program, a customized program design for your specific needs, or nutritional tips- recipes- eating regimens to help you reach your goals.
If/When you donate, 1.) Please put your full name in the appropriate boxes. 2.) There is a place where you can leave a message that will appear under your name. The message you will type in for this Dofitness Giveaway is "FIGHTING SPIRIT." 3) Contact me by email with your name, your age, and your contact information. My email address is dofitness@gmail.com. You will then be contacted, and you will be set up for your first appointment with love. :)
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to message me on facebook or email me at the above address. I hope you will help me fulfill my birthday prayers and wishes today and help this amazing 13-year old sweet girl named Elizabeth and her journey into the realities of cancer.

Work Hard In Everything You Do

The Bottom Line is that YOU must work as hard as you can every single day. Each day is a new day with a different beginning and a different end. Don't be concerned with time...just work hard and give it 100% every single day. Each day brings new hope and changes...helping you to discover what truly lives inside of you. Discipline yourself and you will develop at whatever rate is natural for you. It is up to YOU to find the answers and to do whatever it takes.

The key is to persevere, no matter the cost. Dig in....dig in deep and you will be surprised what you will find. Each of us has so much to give and so much to conquer. Believe in your abilities and potential and YOU will win every time! YOU WILL SUCCEED!

You Can Overcome

This is a special tribute (two year anniversary) to the people of Joplin, Missouri for the tragedy they endured on May 22, 2011 and to the State of Oklahoma, especially to the people of Shawnee and Moore, Oklahoma- my thoughts and prayers are with everyone during this difficult time. BELIEVE  in your hearts that even though your life seems unbearable right at this moment...that in time that you can and will OVERCOME just like Joplin did. STAY STRONG.

It is through loss and tragedy that people become real life warriors- tested to see what truly lives within them. They must be brave and have courage, they must see everything (good and bad) with their heart. Your heart is your strength helping people rise above the sinking feeling fear brings. Centered at the heart of your soul is all the courage and support you will ever need to go beyond and above fearful situations. Courage is an energy that gives someone the chance to go beyond their limits. YOU HAVE COURAGE!

Tragedies happen on a daily basis and, unfortunately will continue to happen. BUT...understand that through tragedy and chaos, the TRUE HEART AND LOVE from another person becomes visible. Tragedy brings people together...reminding everyone that we are all in this together. Watching people come together in time of need is a beautiful experience. It truly shows a "quality" human being and what REAL LIVING is supposed to be...living for others and taking the time to help one another.

Adversity shocks all of us to higher levels, but it is through hope, faith, resilience, and good will that everyone overcomes. Remember, a new day is always dawning. Dawn is the first light of day, a time when we welcome the gradual rising of the sun. A dawning is a new beginning, a chance to start over with a new flood of light. Begin to grow lighter, and you will overcome and shine as bright as the first light of day. You must have HOPE NOW...hope that things will get better in time, to understand that life challenges us each and every day but how you take on that challenge is what matters most. Keep your head up high, stay STRONG and BELIEVE that you will overcome this. Live your life with LOVE and rebuild what you lost with it. LOVE WINS.

The 2011 Joplin tornado was a catastrophic EF5 multiple-vortex tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri in the late afternoon of Sunday, May 22, 2011. A total of 162 people were killed by this tornado, 1,100 were injured, and the damages cost up to $2.8 billion (2011 dollars). It was the deadliest tornado to strike the United States since the 1947 Texas-Oklahoma Tornado. It also ranks as the seventh deadliest and costliest single tornado in US history (even with adjustments for inflation). Today, it has been two years since this horrific tornado struck the people of Joplin, Missouri. My thoughts and prayers are still with you.

Where Does Your Inspiration Come From

It can be very difficult to stay motivated due to obstacles and challenges you face each and every day....UNFORTUNATELY, THAT IS HOW LIFE WORKS! But, YOU must believe that you have what it takes to overcome any obstacle or challenge.

Look around you...there is inspiration and motivation all around you. You must be able to recognize it and apply it to your life. People come in and out of our life everyday....some stay for awhile, while others are there for a short time. Try to learn from others and through your experiences (good and bad). Each experience, relationship, and challenge will shape you and push  you to get motivated or inspire you to overcome difficulties.

You will come across people that have overcome seemingly impossible difficulties, people who follow their dreams into uncharted territory, people who rise to incredible heights of achievement and success.

Everyone has a story and EVERYONE has overcome something. Tell your story and always be yourself...you get INSPIRATION from one person and then you are an inspiration to another person. It is quite a fascinating pattern.

Never stop searching for your spiritual fulfillment, creative expression, and deep satisfaction in life.

That Little Darkroom Where Negatives Are Developed

FEAR DEFENDING FEAR DEFENDING FEAR DEFENDING FEAR-AND INSIDE: NOTHING...

We tend to avoid all things and thoughts that might produce a sense of fear in our life. FEAR: False Expectations Appearing Real. And for the most part, fear is not real, instead it is our mind imagining something awful will happen. According to Aristotle, Fear is pain arising from the anticipation of evil.

But instead FEAR is one of the great jokes of existence. When people have the courage to move forward and journey into the center of their fear, they find...NOTHING. The terror was only layers and layers of fear, being afraid of itself.

NOTE TO SELF: FEAR IS THAT LITTLE DARKROOM WHERE NEGATIVES ARE DEVELOPED.

Your Thirst

I came across this question along with this quote and I just had to share it with you. I believe that most of you will appreciate it and find its true meaning for YOURSELF.

How can you tell the dreamer from the dream?

"I've been having this recurring vision...In it, there's this fish tank--it calms me. I see a small speck floating on the water, and I look closer, it's me...I'm atop the waves. There's water as far as the eye can see, yet I can't drink. Not a drop. I taste salt in my mouth. I taste the bile. My thirst is great and it hangs around my neck like a chain. Eventually the weight drags me under. I'm drowning...I struggle, flail, kick... Then suddenly, I sense the familiar cold, hard hand of iron. I grab hold and pull myself up. This world is a vast sea but one thing remains fixed, constant...This iron. This calling. This THIRST."

You Hold The Key

YOU HOLD THE KEY…
It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves. BELIEVE WHAT LIVES INSIDE OF YOU…YOU HOLD THE KEY.

Embrace And Share Your Gifts

There are so many gifts I want for you...

I'd like to give you the gift of wisdom, but that is something only the passing years can bring.
Id like to give you the gift of success, but that is something that only has true value if it is earned.
I'd like to give you the gift of happiness, but the path that leads you there is one you must find on your own.

But there is one gift that I can give you, and that is little tokens of encouragement and reassurance, which will give you the courage to find what you are looking for and what you can become. Believe in yourself and the strength that lives inside you. Embrace it and share it with the world. You are one of a kind...believe in the gifts that exist inside you.

THE IMPACT OF RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS...

I know that my blog is supposed to be based on both mind and body components that will help you discover your journey of health and fitness. But for me, fitness goes deeper than that (the obvious- "JUST" mind and body). It is mind and body + more...I have always liked looking at the whole picture. Everything that surrounds me not just the obvious things or the visible ones, but the ones that are hidden or lost. I love to inspire and challenge people to discover or dig deeper than what is on the surface. For me, a person who has a complete understanding of "fitness" or who is "fit" is someone who is physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually sound. And even though we could have one of these traits or some, every day is a brand new day to discover more and become more "fit in life"...and that is what makes life so interesting.

Everything is practice and everything is learning. We never stop learning...never stop improving...never stop growing. No one will ever be completely "fit"...many may get close but I still believe it is and will always be a work in progress- A continuous and everlasting discovery that reveals both your strengths and weaknesses for your everyday understanding of your purpose in life.  It is important to fully understand the life you live as a "fit" person and the life that exists all around you. I love to read and I love to read about things that touch deep within my heart....To me this is an experience or a moment that molds me and helps me to continue to learn about myself and about others. We are all connected and we ALWAYS have something to gain from the next person...never stop learning, never stop growing, never stop ANYTHING. So with all that said, I want to take the time to share this story that touches my heart deeply...a random act of kindness from one person that means the world and life to another person.

Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him had tripped and all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder. Mark knelt down and helped the boy pick up the scattered articles and helped carry some of the stuff since they were going the same way. As they walked, Marked discovered the boy's name was Bill, that he loved video games, baseball and history, and that he had just broken up with his girlfriend.

They got to Bill's house and Mark went inside to watch t.v., and continue talking about their lives. The afternoon passed by pleasantly with laughs and stories, which developed into a wonderful friendship. They continued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or twice, then both graduated junior high school. Ironically, they ended up at the same high school where they had brief contacts over the years. It was finally here...their senior year graduation. Wow!! How time flies.

Three weeks before graduation, Bill asked Mark if they could talk. Bill reminded him of the day many years ago when they had first met. "Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?" asked Bill. "You see, I cleaned out my locker that day because I didn't want to leave a mess for anyone else. I had my dad's gun under my bed and I was going to commit suicide. But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked up my books that day, you did a lot more. YOU SAVED ME LIFE."

Try, Try Again

Here is a lesson you should take notice of,
A lesson you should take to heart,
Try, try again;
If at first you don't succeed,
Try, try again;
It is then that your courage should appear,
For, if you will persevere,
You will conquer, and never fear,
So Try, try again;
Believe that one day you will see THE TRUTH.

WE ARE THE CATALYST

Inner rising consciousness that is awakening...changes that stem from the HEART. Blessing is strength...it is endurance, resilience, wisdom, discernment, capacity, and dependence. We cannot continue to try to outfight, outdo, outmatch, and outrun. Many close their eyes for good, while many do not close their eyes at all and drown in sorrows of the world and of people all night. A hope to dream of a symphony of peace...a peace of blinding. Since darkness is the lack of light, a blinding light is light that exceeds all darkness.

We must change our ways and begin to support one another, to help each other, change our negative thoughts...create an atmosphere of support, purpose, strength, courage, and love. LOVE WINS!

Touch And Feel

"Why do you walk through the fields in gloves when the grass is soft as the breasts of doves and shivering sweet to the touch?" - Frances Cornford

We touch so many things in the course of a day, but do we really FEEL anything? Our sense of touch is one of the miracles of our bodies that we often grow numb to it. There was this boy who had a disease that caused him to be numb all over. He could move, but he couldn't feel anything-hot or cold, wet or dry, NOTHING. He suffered so much-he kept getting hurt because he had no warning system-which should lead us to the preciousness of our sense of touch.

Take a few minutes right now to really feel something. Scratch your belly with awareness, or feel the little hairs on your arm. Notice how touch has two components-the sensation in your fingertips and the sensations your fingertips create on your skin. Revel in your ability to feel. Isn't that great? Something you should look forward to...embrace it and feel so good doing it!

Play The Music That Fills Your Heart

"When you are born, your work and your music are placed in your heart." -Kahlil Gibran

I want you to stop and point to yourself. Now look at where you pointed. Your finger (most likely) is pointing right at your heart...this is who you are. The constant beating of your heart is a symbol of your infinite connection to everything that surrounds you.

Your left brain calculates, figures things out, analyzes, and comes up with the most logical choices for you. It thinks, thinks, thinks. Your right brain represents your intuitive side. This is the part of you that goes beyond reason and analysis. It's the part that feels things, that sensitive to love, that's emotional about what's important to you. Your right brain allows you to tear up when you see a sad movie or bask in the beauty of a glorious day. So in a nutshell, your left brain can analyze it, while your right brain lets you feel it.

So do you know how you would respond to a certain situation in your life? Which is most important to you, what you know or what you feel. Generally, what we take care of first depends on the situation and circumstances that we are in. Your logical side can be figuring out exactly how you are supposed to act in a relationship when things are collapsing, and then again, there are times when what you feel will supersede what you know. Understand that if you are feeling fearful, scared, lonely; or on the other hand, thrilled, loved, an ecstatic, these will be dominant forces you'll act upon...and these are the times when your right brain is right. Remember, that your right brain will always lead you passionately to your purpose.

You must believe that there's an intuitive, invisible presence that is always with you. It is funny but I see this presence inside me as a little nagging creature that keeps reminding me when I have lost my sense of purpose. This little guy is in all of us and he is so important because he is our daily reminder who urges us to get on with what we showed up here for (our purpose in life/living it out the way your heart urges you to) because we won't be here forever and we aren't promised tomorrow. Your invisible companion may be nagging but he is helping you...he will prod you when you're spending another day doing what somebody else has dictated if it's not a part of your passion in life.

Nine out of ten times, you will know when you're off purpose because of your thoughts of frustration. What is difficult for many of us is that we might not always act on this knowledge, because our left brain has not mustered up the courage to do the bidding that our right brain knows is our destiny. Our intuitive inner voice keeps urging us to play the music that we hear so that we won't die with it inside us. While, our left brain says, "Wait a minute. Be careful, don't take risks, you might fail, you might disappoint all of those who have a different view of what you should be doing." But then our right brain (invisible companion) speaks even louder by turning up the volume...trying to get us to FOLLOW OUR DREAM.

Unfortunately many of us tend to listen exclusively to our left brain, which will ultimately turn us into pretenders, or even worse, commuters...getting up every morning going with the crowd, doing THAT JOB that brings in the money and pays the bills; and getting up the next morning and doing it all over again. How many of you feel like this is what your life consists of ? The music inside of you fades almost to point of being inaudible...but, on the other hand, that constant companion always hears the music and continues tapping you on your shoulder. How many of you know what I am talking about?

As individuals, we tend to be set in our ways and we can be so hard-headed...we feel that constant nagging reminder but we never truly apply it to our lives unless something serious occurs. The attempts to get your attention may take the form of an ulcer, or a fire to burn up your resistance, or being fired from a stifling job, or being brought to your knees with an accident. Usually these accidents, illnesses, back luck situations will get your attention...BUT NOT ALWAYS. You don't have to choose the fate like Tolstoy's character Ivan Ilyich who stated, "What if my whole life has been wrong?" Don't forget, you have the key to everything...you can press that play button at anytime.

Listen and express the music that you hear...most importantly, ignore what everyone else around you thinks you should be doing. You must be willing to accept that others may see you as having betrayed them, but you must embrace the fact that you haven't betrayed YOUR MUSIC...YOUR PURPOSE. Listen to your music, and do what you know you have to do to feel whole, to feel complete, and to feel as if you're fulfilling YOUR DESTINY.

You will never be at peace if you don't get that music out and LET IT PLAY. Let the world know why you are here, and DO IT WITH PASSION!

DEFINITION OF EXERCISES/LANGUAGE IN EXERCISE

1) Straight-legged to Heels-to-Butt Sit-ups- lie flat on the ground with your legs straight and your hands on your head. As you start to do a sit-up bring your heels in to your butt and tap the floor (*the closer the heels come to the butt the harder). As you come out of your sit-up and begin to roll-down straighten out your legs and make sure the heels touch the floor. It should be a smooth, contolled one motion.
2) Burpee In Place-start by jumping straight in the air and then landing in a squat position with hands on the ground. Kick your feet back into the downward position of a push-up. Thrust the feet up and push up with the arms simultaneously.
3) Traveling Forward Burpee- the same concept as the Burpee In Place the only difference is jump forward instead of straight up.
4) Traveling Backward Burpee- the same concept as the Burpee In Place the only difference is jump backward instead of jumping straight up.
5) Burp- also known as a stripped down burpee. Start low and tucked toward the floor. Kick feet out to the bottom portion of a pushup. Then, push with your hands, while thrusting the feet back to the beginnning position (which is low and tucked toward the floor). It is only a half way motion minus without the jump in the air.
6) M.B. or Plate Stand-Ups- lie flat on the ground with your feet planted on the ground. Beginners should use two dumbbells and place on feet. Hold a m.b. or plate over your head (*the heavier the db/plate the easier...the lighter the db/plate or no weight the harder). Quickly move your arms forward and start to sit up. It is very important that you use your arms for momentum and engage your abdominals. Once your arms pass your knees, quickly push forward with your legs, moving into a standing position.
7) Mountain Climbers- start with your body in a push-up plank position. With the hands stationary, alternate the feet back and forth. One leg should be tucked with the knee coming close to your chest and the opposite leg extended. Make sure to place your weight on the balls of the feet.
8) Grasshoppers- your body will begin in the same position you used for mountain climbers. The movement starts by bringing your left foot underneath the body until it touches your right hand. After touching your hand, return the left foot to the starting position and repeat the movement by bringing your right foot across the body to your left hand. You will be on the balls of your feet but when you bring your foot toward your hand you will land on the side of your foot.
9) Wall Sit- place yourself up against a wall and squat down until the thighs are parallel to the floor. Think about forming an L with the bottom portion of your body. Your back is supported against the wall. Hold this position for time. Do not place your hands on your thighs because this takes off the pressure in your legs. Absolutely no movement with this exercise.
10) Bridge- a great exercise that will develop strength and flexibility. It is a static hold that helps improve lower back strength. Start by lying down on the floor with your knees bent and your hands on the floor close to your ears. Lift yourself up with your abdomen pointing upward and with only the hands and the feet on the floor. Your body should create an arched position and you will maintain the upright position for time.
11) Aerobic exercise- means with oxygen. An activity in which demands of muscle for oxygen are met by circulation of oxygen in blood. Distance running, cross-country, skiing, distance cycling are all examples of aerobic activities.
12) Anaerobic Exercise- means without oxygen. Activity in which oxygen demands of muscles are so high that they rely upon an internal metabolic process for oxygen. Short burts of "all-out" activities such as sprinting or weightlifting are examples of anerobic exercises.
13) Burn- also known as "going for the burn." For instance, in endurance exercise, working muscles until lactic acid buildup causes a burning sensation.
14) Concentric- when muscles contract or shorten.
15) Delts- an abbreviation for deltoids, the large triangular muscles of the shoulder which raise the arm away from the body and perform other functions.
16) Eccentric- when muscles lengthen while maintaining tension.
17) Fast-Twitch- refers to muscle cells that fire quickly and are utilized in anaerobic activites like sprinting and powerlifting.
18) Glycogen- can be referred to as a full tank full of stored carbohydrates. Some of it is stored in the liver and some of it is stored in the muscles themselves.
19) Hybrid Lift- is two or more exercise done in one single movement. It is the inverse of a combo lift. For istance, performing a bicep curl while lunging.
20) Interval Training- is a short, high-intensity cardio exercise alternated with longer periods of lower-intensity cardio. It allows you to burn more calories, increase your speed, improve your power, and much more. It is more effective at burning fat while maintaining muscle mass. Combine this type of training with intensity will also increase your metabolic rate to amazing levels. This is because the work you do utilizes a greater percent of the body's muscles.
